The camp season is underway!

The season at Sokol Troja camping is in full swing. In Prague, the last days are cloudy, pleasant 20 to 25 °C, we have in the camp, of course, shade, mowed and especially – this year a new operator, new bathrooms, showers, toilets including barrier-free.

Unfortunately, the restaurant, which is part of the campsite, is currently out of order, so take a good chilled pint of Pilsen, Kozel or a third of Coca Cola. Available at reception every day from 7 am to 8 pm.

And a place for your caravans and tents? Don’t worry. You will not find such atmosphere elsewhere.

See for yourself that in Prague you simply cannot live elsewhere (photo from July 18, 2019):

Tips to visit the neighborhood of the campsite

Camp Sokol Troja is situated in the picturesque part of Prague 7 in Troja, surrounded by a number of unique monuments and interesting places worthy of your attention. So we decided to invite you to visit the surroundings, when the season is in full swing. Especially you should visit the Troja Chateau, which is only about 600 m from our camp.

You can go for a walk there along the river Vltava where you will not be disturbed by any cars . As you will go on a cycle path, along the Vltava rapids towards the place where the Troja footbridge used to be. Instead of the Trojan footbridge, which has not yet been restored, an electric ferry boat runs to Císařský ostrov.

If you like the connection of the place you go through with a bit of history, we recommend you a walk from the Praha neznámá portal (Prague Unknown), which is dedicated to the former settlement of Rybáře in the closest neigborhood of Troja Chateau in Troja. By the way, you can also use the web site Praha neznámá as an inspiration for your next walk around our capital. You can find here maps, where the interesting locality can best go through, so you will not miss anything, lots of photos with unknown views, history of the locality, stories of locals and customs, as well as a unique imprint of the author of the whole project – Petr Rysky. Eventually you can also pay for a walk with a guide or buy one of the books Prague Unknown I, II., III.

If you are interested in the surroundings of the Vltava River (and we are sure of that) and you will go up the river, you will find countless places for rest and refreshment kiosks right in the area of the canoeing area and in its surroundings. You can sit here, have ice cream, drink, even buy sausages and roast them on fire.

See the Vltava river’s atmosphere in photos:

But do not forget to go down the river to the original destination – Troja Château – the gardens and the tour is worth it. The castle is surrounded by a large castle garden with many ornamental and fruit trees and a small natural maze decorated with fountains, terracotta vases, stucco brochures and orangery with imperial busts. The chateau (owned by the Prague City Galery) is open to the public, including the garden. The Prague City Galery makes seasonal exhibitions here from April to October every year. In the castle interior you can see a unique fresco decoration of the rooms.

You can go back to our camp Sokol Troja, for example, along Trojská Street – where our camp is located and which is surrounded by Troja Castle. Right at the corner of Troja Castle you will go past the Na Kovárně grocery store where you can shop. Next to the shop is a picturesque café with a pastry shop, where you can sit inside and in a small outdoor garden right on the street. Just in this street (Pod Havránkou) you will find the remains of the Rybáře settlement mentioned in Praha neznámá (Prague Unknown).

If you take a trip back from Trojská to street Nad Kazankou, you can admire here the magnificent not only diplomatic villas in the vast gardens, which are countless in the area. From Nad Kazankou Street you can then take one of the connections back down to Trojská Street.

And if you did not turn away from street Trojská during your afternoon or evening walk, we recommend you to have a dinner in the Ristorante & pizzeria Del Corso, located in Trojská 173b. From here it is only 250 m to the camp.

After return to the campsite, you can take a shower in our newly renovated showers. Of course, hot water keeps running.

And then you can lie down in your tents or campers. 🙂

Have a nice evening and stay.
