In July 2025, TV Praha editors appeared at our Sokol Troja campsite with the intention of filming a report on the topic of Camping and outdoor activities – where and how to enjoy them to the fullest in Prague and the Central Bohemian region. The report was of course focused on overnight stays in campsites. The first 4 minutes of the report, which you can watch below, concern our campsite.
Below we bring you a transcript of the report including the footage used.
Welcome to another installment of the Summer with Praha TV magazine. Holidays call for adventure, so we’ll take a look at where to enjoy camping and outdoor activities. We’ll give you tips on places and remind you of some rules.
My colleague Natálie Vašková took a close look at how to camp.
Camping is no longer just about a sleeping bag and a campfire. Modern campsites are adapting to the growing demands of visitors. Whether they are travelers with camper vans, families with tents, or couples looking for peace and quiet in nature.
Certainly one of the trends nowadays, compared to what it was like 10, 15 years ago, is the composition of visitors, when before it was really overwhelmingly about Western visitors, but more and more often Czechs come to us, but also visitors from the former Eastern Bloc countries. At the same time, trends are generally associated with the development of technology. Caravans are increasingly modern, more luxurious, but at the same time customers expect, for example, wi-fi, the ability to do laundry here, use the dryer, so that they can go straight away.
The basis of what a person needs changes depending on the type of caravan. They buy a better caravan, it has better equipment and then in the campsite they mainly want to get some advice on how to find their way around the place, how to orient themselves, how to get to the center of Prague and to have basic hygiene, to feel good, to see that everything is tidy and clean.
Visitors are also changing their approach to planning. Instead of people driving blindly and looking for a place on site, today they find everything online.
They can find various websites with reviews of individual campsites, they can reserve a place in campsites in advance and they don’t have to go by chance. We have regular guests, both from the Czech Republic and abroad. Quite often, tourists from Germany tell us, I’ve been here before, I’ve been here five years ago, I’ve been here 10 years ago. I think they like the fact that they go with certainty, that they know that this is a place where they were satisfied, where they had all the service they needed. And it certainly works for us that we respond well to reviews, to phone calls, in all systems.
Caravans, tents or just a sleeping bag under the open sky. Here at the campsite in Trója, everyone will find their own piece of space. There is peace and greenery, but at the same time you are still close to the center. An ideal summer base.
It happens surprisingly often that someone arrives with a new caravan and sometimes they don’t even know what’s in the caravan, and they feel like something has broken. At that moment they come to us, and we advise them and try to find out what it is. For example, here there are only blown fuses, there is no open bomb, and in this way we try to provide them with another service, whether it is what else to buy with them, what to watch out for when traveling, where to find a good campsite when they travel around Europe. So service and advice are, I would say, definitely key for visitors who are starting out.
Modern camping is no longer just about sleeping. Clean showers, well-maintained toilets or even electricity directly to the caravan. Today, campsites have high-quality facilities.
However, in some campsites, comfort is charged. For example, you pay tokens for a hot shower. Using a washing machine or electricity is often an extra item. While in some it is included in the price, in others it is good to expect additional charges.
…the report then continues with a visit to other campsites in Prague and the Central Bohemian region.
